The 100 ml limit for liquids

They say : that terrorists can easily assemble an explosive device using all sorts of chemicals that can be enclosed in larger containers.

We say: what a load of old tripe. Well ... ok not exactly.. but there are sooo many holes in this security measure. I'll try and expand upon this as time goes on but - the most obvious - what's wrong with several people with several bottles ? You are only checked at one entrance point so it'd be trivial to meet up with as many accomplices as necessary inside the "safe" zone and recombine your inventory. Anyway, if you do want to find out more about the limits, here's a link to the official DFT (daft?) site that has more information

Shoes must be removed and x-rayed.

They say : that as there was a failed attempt (ie Richard Reid aka the "shoebomber") who had TATP and a form of plastic explosive in his shoes, from now on ALL passengers must remove their footware and have them xrayed.

We say: How much has this inconvienced the whole of the travelling public and surely there must be alternatives to passengers de-shoeing at every single security checkpoint? All comments welcome.

More secure cockpit doors.

They say : access to the cockpit must be restricted through stronger + reinforced cockpit doors.

We say: Bravo ! This measure seems to be effective in the fact that it actually hinders the ability of an attacker getting to where all the good stuff is on the airplane. The only issue ? Decent doors a few quid to install (and the extra weight per flight) so some airlines aren't as "motivated" as others to get this thing done.
